The Canadian Dental Association recommends a child’s first visit within a few months of the first tooth appearing, or around their first birthday. Early visits build trust and catch developmental concerns before they become complex.
The Toddler Years: Brushing Habits Begin
With most baby teeth present, graduate to a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste and establish a consistent daily brushing routine. Regular check-ups reinforce these habits.
The Early School Years: First Permanent Molars
The first permanent molars typically arrive in the early school years, an ideal time for sealants to protect their deep grooves from cavities. We also monitor jaw and bite development at this stage.
